Out of Fear, Into God

It seems that all over the world, we are in a time of spiritual extremes.  Everywhere you look there’s persecution and acts of religious intolerance. Here in the US, lately, the Pentagon has come under fire for threatening to court-marshal Christians who display their faith too overtly. They have since refuted this, but both the initial report and the rebuttal contained statements from Pentagon officials. So who knows? Then I heard about a track team who was disqualified because one of the members of their relay pointed to the sky after winning their race (the article is here). Then of course there’s the American pastor, Saeed Abedini, currently imprisoned in Iran for his faith, and recently thrown into solitary confinement (there is an article about that here). And that’s just in America – and we tend to have it much easier than Christians in other places of persecution.

Anyway, in reaction to all these things in the news, I see many people react in fear. Fear of what’s coming for them personally, fear of the end times, fear of what the world is coming to. Fear of all kinds of things.

So I would just like to remind Christians everywhere that we were created with a purpose. We were given a specific identity. And we were given it now. God’s timing is never wrong. Never. We were created for such a time as this.

Fear is unnecessary. With increased confusion comes increased dependence on God, which is the best and safest place to be. We know that. So don’t give in to fear about these situations. That is what the enemy would have us all do. Instead, if you’re concerned enough to discuss it, mention it, or merely think about it…pray about it. Open yourself up to be used as a vessel, no matter how subtle the task. God will handle the rest.

God bless!
